What is the reason for current Indo-China conflict at Galvan Valley?

In 1999 It was former defence minister George Fernandes who identified 61 strategic roads to be built across upto from Arunachal to Ladakh.

The UPA 1 govt sat on the projects under pressure from Communists.

During UPA 2 Some work of Road construction started in Arunachal sector but pace was so slow it didn’t bother Chinese.

But NDA govt immediately ordered road construction and infrastructure building. As of March 2020, 80% works of those 61 strategic roads are complete.

It was enough to baffle Chinese establishments.

One such Road Darbuk-Shyok Road is the main reason for Chinese aggression in Galvan Valley

Becoz this road reaches upto Daulat Beg Oldi, which has world’s largest airstrip & Airforce has already landed C17 Globemaster Aircraft.

Earlier it used to take several days for Army to reach Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) at 14500 Ft height which now take few hours.

With several bridges over Shyok river, even tanks & heavy artilleries can reach upto DBO which is just 9 Km from LAC & just below Siachen Glacier, 

Daulat Beg Oldie is a strategic sector as it supplies ration,medicines, arms & ammunition to army at both LOC at Siachen & LAC

Since it takes upto 7 hrs to cover 9 KM to reach LAC,Army decided to build a Link Road & a bridge crossing the Shyok river upto Galvan Valley at LAC.

China has already built road upto LAC and it has put up a temporary post at Galvan Valley.

Here are problem lies for China. 

When completed the proposed Link Road would take just 35 min to reach LAC & Heavy artilleries & tanks can also be transported & deployed upto LAC

In case of war China could have attacked Darbuk-Shyok road which would have paralysed army with supplies and additional forces

But with full battalion of Army with Tanks and Heavy artilleries at LAC, China’s plan is doomed and hence it is creating problem at Galvan Valley.
