What is the reason for current Indo-China conflict at Galvan Valley? In 1999 It was former defence minister George Fernandes who identified 61 strategic roads to be built across upto from Arunachal to Ladakh. The UPA 1 govt sat on the projects under pressure from Communists. During UPA 2 Some work of Road construction started in Arunachal sector but pace was so slow it didn’t bother Chinese. But NDA govt immediately ordered road construction and infrastructure building. As of March 2020, 80% works of those 61 strategic roads are complete. It was enough to baffle Chinese establishments. One such Road Darbuk-Shyok Road is the main reason for Chinese aggression in Galvan Valley Becoz this road reaches upto Daulat Beg Oldi, which has world’s largest airstrip & Airforce has already landed C17 Globemaster Aircraft.
